Message from the Directors Desk on the occasion of Swatchhata Pakhwara
Swachhata Pakhwada started in April 2016, by the Govt. of India, with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata by engaging Central Ministries and Departments in their jurisdiction. An annual calendar is pre-circulated among the Ministries to help to plan fifteen days of Pakhwada activities. Accordingly, CSIR-NEIST is observing Swachhata Pakhwara during 1-15 May, 2018 and planned various activities that focus on cleaning of campus, colony and surroundings.
Making our country clean is a dream that was seeded by Mahatma Gandhi. The program has been reinitiated by our Hon’ble Prime Minister as Swatch Bharat Abhiyan on 2nd October, 2014. Clean surroundings and a clean nation are inevitable for all-round growth of a country, in all spheres of activities. However, cleanliness cannot be achieved in a single day and therefore requires consistent efforts of the people of all backgrounds. All citizens of India have to come together and take it as a responsibility. Mere taking the pledge and leaving the work on others won’t lead to make an impact. In this context, behavioural change is the primary focus and fundamental tool for achievement of clean surrounding. It is important that each of us understand the importance of cleanliness, motivate ourselves and instill a sense of responsibility in all members of our great nation. It is indeed a great opportunity to contribute towards nation building. Our sincere efforts towards cleanliness will surly make us a proud citizen of a clean and beautiful nation.
On this occasion, I sincerely appeal to all members of CSIR-NEIST family to give your best to make our campus, residential area and surrounding most beautiful.
